We ran on Portugal time today: breakfast at 11, lunch at 3, dinner after 7. It rained until late afternoon so we didn’t go to the beach like we’d planned. Instead, we did some shopping and tried to visit a monastery, but it was closed.
We ate breakfast at a historic cafe in Braga, A Brasileira. The breakfast pastries here were very good.

We walked around Braga and looked at the architecture of the buildings and did some shopping.
We went to visit a church and monastery, but unfortunately they were closed. Nearby, there is an old road built by the Romans dating back to the 3rd century that links Braga to Lisbon. It’s built with large flat stones. There are chestnut trees along one side of the road and the chestnuts are ripe, and some had fallen on the ground, so Eduardo cracked some of them open and we peeled and ate them.

Lunch was two different types of codfish cake in an old restaurant. One was shredded code in a batter and deep fried. The second was code baked inside of mashed potatoes. It came with a side of black-eyed peas and hard boiled eggs.
